Ann Marie
Mahon Blackwell Lawrence
May 27, 1934 — Aug 8, 2024
Mrs. Ann Marie Mahon Blackwell Lawrence, age 90 of Griffin, died Thursday, August 8, 2024, at her daughter's residence.
Ann was born and raised in Newark, NJ. She was a beloved Daughter, Sister, Aunt, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother. She was a second mom to an entire community of her children's friends. She spent the most significant years of her life in Wilmington, IL and Philadelphia, PA where she became a mom and raised her children - whom she loved profoundly and unconditionally. They were her greatest joy, her source of strength, and in her eyes (even in light of the contrary!) could do no wrong. She believed they could do anything. Ann loved music, the color Kelly Green, and was very proud of her Irish heritage. She loved a full house and was blessed with the gift of gab. Her friends and neighbors joked, "If you need to leave Ann's home, get to the door an hour in advance." She passed peacefully in her daughter's home in Williamson, GA. She graced and influenced the lives of many, and we will mourn her loss as we celebrate her memory.
In addition to her parents, William Mahon and Helen Fitzpatrick Mahon, she is preceded in death by her son, Ricky Blackwell, brothers, William Mahon, Matthew Mahon, James Mahon, Joseph Mahon, Jack Mahon, sisters, Mary Mahon, Margaret (Peggy) Cunningham, and Agnes Mortimer, daughter-in-law, Linda Blackwell.
Survivors include her children Robert (Kelly) Blackwell of Mt. Sterling, IL., Raymond Blackwell of St. Simon's Island, GA., William (Lea) Blackwell of Albemarle, NC., Ellen Blackwell (Vikki Barron) of Williamson, GA., Edward (Suzanne) Blackwell of Griffin, GA., and Mary (April Dawn) Murphy (Jim) Bonanno of Bayville, NJ., grandchildren, Danna (Butch) Wilson, Serenity Blackwell, Robert Blackwell, Kelsey Blackwell, Ricky (Karissa) Blackwell, Annelisa Esparza, Max Bonanno, Chloe Bonanno, McKayla McCaskill, Isabella Blackwell, great-grandchildren, Madelyn Rose, Nathan Wilson, Westen Blackwell, Scarlet Hough, and great-great grandchild, Brayden Rose.
