Mrs. Betty Joyce Piper Ellington, age 93 of Thomaston, died, Sunday, August 23, 2026, at Providence Health and Rehab.

Mrs. Ellington was born on April 24, 1933, in Columbus, Georgia to the late William Felton Piper, and the late Helen Gladys Thornton Piper.  She worked in the Weave shop of Thomaston Mills, Tasty Shop, Sing Foods, and worked in the laundry room at Riverside Health and Rehab.  She was a member of the Outreach Full Gospel Church.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Charles "Scooter" Morris, brothers, Kenneth McElroy, Lamar McElroy, Lawrence "Butch" McElroy, William Carl "Billy" Piper, sister, Mary Frances Piper Blackmon, and grandchild, Lisa Marie Nobles.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-three years, Howard "Frank" Ellington, daughters, Bonnie (Pendley) Smith, Teresa McCall Armstrong, brother, James (Gail) McElroy, special cousin, Yvonne McDaniel, grandchildren, Wayne Wheeless, Barry (Tammy) Wheeless, Jessica (Rich) Moore, Eric (Leigh Anne) Smith, Jeremy Armstrong, and Bryan Morris, great-grandchildren, Nick (Aston) Wheeless, Carrie (Lee) Watson, Caleb (McKenzie) Wheeless, Ryan Nobles, Johnathan Nobles, Eric C. Smith, Frances Smith, and Luke Smith, great-great-grandchildren, Tommy Nobles, Emmett Watson, Memphis Wheeless, and Madeline Wheeless. 

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. from Crystal Hill Cemetery.
