Mrs. Betty Ross Heard, age 90, of Thomaston, died Monday, January 29, 2024, at Riverside Health and Rehab.

Mrs. Heard was born on June 10, 1933, in Upson County, Georgia, to the late George W. Ross, and the late Ester Clyde Tomberlin.  She retired from the Upson County School System after 31 years as a cafeteria manager and was a member of Thomaston First Assembly.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Bryant Lester Heard, and sisters, Jewel Jones, Elizabeth Holmes, and Linda Hewitt

Survivors include her daughter, Kathy (Tim) Calvert of Zebulon, son, Lester "David" Heard of Thomaston, brothers, William "Bill" Ross of Marietta, Ralph Ross of Thomaston, sister, Ester Brown of Abilene, Texas, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Crystal Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, from 12:30-2:00 p.m. at Coggins Funeral Home.
