Mrs. Clara Elizabeth Young Dempsey age 82 of Thomaston Ga, formerly of Fortson, Georgia, died Monday April 28, 2025, at her daughter's residence.

Mrs. Dempsey was born on July 29, 1942, in Hogansville, Georgia, to the late James Young and the late Mary "Nettie" Ogletree Young.  She worked as an Area Manager of School Nutrition in Muscogee County; she was a member of the Georgia Nutrition Association and was a member of Bellwood Baptist Church in Columbus.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Dempsey.

Survivors include her daughter, Laura Stokes of Thomaston, grandchildren, Bradley Stokes and Grady Stokes, sister-in-law, Ruby Young, niece, Terri (Ernie) Norton, nephew, John (Dotti) Young, great niece, Amanda (Wesley) McClung, God daughters, Jennifer Meadows and Clauneise Reeves.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. from Bellwood Baptist Church in Columbus.

The family has requested that those attending the service wear bright colors or floral prints in memory of Mrs. Clara.
