Mr. Danny Dozier Brown age 78 of Thomaston GA, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2024, at The Medical Center of Central Georgia.

Mr. Brown was born on August 27, 1946, in Upson County to the late Arthur Brown and the late Mary Idella Evans.  He served his country in the United States Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune, NC and in Vietnam.  After returning from military service, Danny attended Gordon Military College and worked for The Thomaston Times newspaper as a typesetter and photographer. Danny went on to serve the Upson County community for many years. He was involved in the county's Civil Defense Organization. He was the founding Chief of the Thurston Volunteer Fire Department. He served as a Rescue Chief for the EMA Rescue Unit. Danny served as Upson County's elected corner for 16 years. He was a firefighter with the City of Thomaston Fire Department as well as Henry County Fire & Rescue.  He was among the first employees of the Upson Emergency Medical Services serving as an EMT, Cardiac Technician and Paramedic. He was an EMT/Paramedic Instructor at Upson Technical College. Danny also served as Director of Upson's EMS. After retiring from the medical field, he went to work at Carters in Barnesville, GA until his retirement.

Danny was a wedding photographer and member of the Professional Photographers Association. He was a talented woodworker, painter, and a member of the R.E. Lee High Second Edition singing group. He was a member of The Gathering Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald and Norman Brown and his bonus daughter, Stephanie Haege.

Danny will be profoundly missed by his wife, Carla Kandler Brown of Thomaston, daughter, DeeGee (David) Gassett of Thomaston, bonus son, Kevin (Tiffany) Perry of Mansfield, TX, bonus daughter, Heather Perry of Thomaston, bonus daughter, Lindsey (Jason) Spitler of Brisbane, Australia, a sister, Mary Sue (Loyce) Jordan of Deland, Florida, and ten grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 29, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. from The Gathering Church.  The family will receive friends on Friday, November 29, 2024, from 1:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m. at The Gathering Church.
