Mr. Floyd J. Weeks, 79 of Thomaston, GA  died January 1, 2022, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin, GA.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 8, 2022, at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Coggins Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service at Coggins Funeral Home.

Mr. Weeks was born April 30, 1942, in Toledo, OH to the late Orlin and Ruth Fleming Weeks Zumbach.

Mr. Weeks was a graduate of Monroe High School, Monroe, WI in 1960 and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Whitewater, Wisconsin-BS  Business Education in 1965. He was an educator teaching at Muskego-Norway Consolidated Schools, Muskego, WI from 1965-1968, Monroe High School, Monroe, WI from 1968-1969. He then worked in retail at Spurgeons Department Store as a manager from 1969-1975, in 1978 he began his insurance sales career and was the owner and operator of The  Book Shelf a book store in Effingham IL from 1975-1981. In 2006 Mr. Weeks and his wife Jacqueline moved to Thomaston, GA, where he began teaching in the Pike  County School District in Zebulon from 2006-2011. Following his retirement in 2011 from Pike County School system he continued serving in education as a substitute teacher at Upson Lee Middle School grades 7,8,& 9 all subjects, Upson Lee High School grades 9,10,11,& 12 all subjects, Cross Pointe Christian Academy Grades 7-12 All subjects including Bible, Fencing & Archery and also taught grades 3,4,5, and 6 in the elementary school.

Floyd was also a member of several associations and served on various boards including president of the Retailers Association, Effingham, Illinois (branch of chamber of commerce), President of Life Underwriters for Southeastern Illinois, and Chairman of  IEA insurance committee for Belvidere Teachers Association in Rockford, Illinois. served on the Board of Directors for Melba's Manor Home, Milner, Illinois, and was on the Advisory Committee member for Accounting at Southern Crescent Community College.

In 1993 Mr. Weeks was inducted into the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Athletics Hall of Fame for Track and Field. Mr. Weeks was a record-setting 220-yard low hurdler on the Warhawk track teams in the early 1960s, He earned four letters in track while competing in the 229 yard low hurdles, Weeks finished in third place at the 1961 conference meet He won conference championships in  1962 and 1963, His second-place finish at the 1964 conference meet was his only loss in his event that year, He also competed in the 120 high hurdles and on the NO yard relay team. By the end of his athletic career at UW-Whitewater, he held the school record in the 200 yard low hurdles and had set five different facility records. Floyd graduated from Monroe High school where he also earned four letters in track.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Jacqueline Weeks of Thomaston, daughters, Rene Womble (Darrell) of Chandler, TX and Shelley Welch of Burlington, KY, sons, Derek Weeks (Carolyn) of Traverse City, MI, Jeff Weason (Tammy) of Thomaston and Kevin Weason (Carolyn) of Thomaston, sisters, Linda Deininger (Mike) of Monroe, WI and Gerry Gobeli (Rich) of Winter Park, FL, eleven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Also, surviving is his first wife, Suzanne Bruning Elliott of Carbondale, IL

Mr. Weeks was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Diana Weckerly and Jeannine Johnson.
