Mr. George Lee Sizemore Sr., age 87, of Thomaston, died Wednesday, April 17, 2024, in Cleveland, Tennessee.
Mr. Sizemore was born on August 12, 1936, in Dekalb County, Alabama, to the late George Dewey Sizemore, and the late Charlie Buttram Sizemore. He attended college at Jacksonville State University where he played football, then went on to serve his country in the US Navy as a submariner, on the USS Medregal from 1956-1959. He worked for McDonalds Corp from 1965-1980 and was a McDonalds Franchise owner from 1980-2016. Mr. George loved his time with McDonalds and was the Founding Member of the Ronald McDonald House of Central Georgia.
He was a proud Veteran and loved talking about his time in the Navy. He will be remembered for the love he had for his family and wife, Martha Joyce Sizemore. He was a great friend, leader, storyteller, loved his church. He was very hardworking and business minded, which he instilled in his children. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Martha Joyce Sizemore.
Survivors include his daughters, Natalie (John) Burns of Cleveland, TN, Starla (Doug) Riddick of Thomaston, Jessica (Murry) Deen of Thomaston, and Jennifer (Wayne) Roberts of Macon; son, Lee (Vickie) Sizemore of Byron; brother, Charles (Debbie) Sizemore; sisters, Suevilla Pendergrass, Sara Lynn Lindsay, and Sharon (Charles) Knight; grandchildren, Ashley (Recie) Austin, Grant (Zena) Steele, Taylor Garza, Cassie Sizemore, Dekota (Haley) Riddick, Murry Deen Jr., Jenna Bette Deen, Trip Roberts, and Duke Roberts; great-grandchildren, Isla Austin, Parker Austin, Lana Steele, Keira Steele, and Baylor Riddick.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 21, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 21, 2024, from 2:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m. at Coggins Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Central Georgia, 1160 Fosyth St. Macon, GA. 31201.
