Obituary

Geraldine Kennedy Moon, affectionately known as “Maw Maw” age 77, of Thomaston, Georgia, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Geraldine was born on June 15, 1949, in Thomaston, Georgia, to the late Jesse Harvey Kennedy and Thelma Jewel Kennedy. She was the youngest of five children.

A hardworking and devoted businesswoman, Geraldine was self-employed for most of her life as the owner and manager of Southside Grocery, affectionately known throughout the community as “Moon’s.” Over the years, she built more than a business—she built lifelong friendships and countless cherished memories with everyone who came through her doors.

Above all, Geraldine loved her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her gentle spirit, generous heart, and unconditional love touched the lives of so many, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Harvey Kennedy and Thelma Jewel Kennedy; her stillborn son, Harvey Elliott Moon; her sisters, Sara Bell and Annette Harrison; and her brother, Luke Kennedy.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter, Angie (Waldo) Bozeman; granddaughter, Marlena Bozeman; grandsons, Mack Bozeman and Landon (Hailey) Bozeman; great-grandchildren, Olivia Bozeman, Lila Bozeman, Archer Bozeman, Denim Bozeman and Eva Bozeman, who is expected to arrive in early December. She is also survived by her brother, Jimmy Lee Kennedy, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and countless friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, in the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to Thomaston Hospice in Geraldine’s memory. Their compassionate care, kindness, and support were truly a blessing to our family during her final days.

Her legacy of love, hard work, kindness, and friendship will live on forever in the hearts of those who were blessed to know and love her.
