Mr. Harvey "Pop Gene" Eugene Johnson, age 87, of Thomaston, died Tuesday, March 30, 2022, at his daughter's residence.

Mr. Johnson was born on July 21, 1934, in Upson County, to the late William Henry Johnson and the late Willie Maude Partain Johnson.  He served his country in the U.S. Navy.  Mr. Johnson formerly owned and operated Thomaston Pest Control and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Margie Nell Johnson, sisters, Virginia Kay, and Betty.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Long Johnson of Thomaston, daughter, Debra Adams of Talbotton, son, Keith Johnson of Thomaston, sisters, Carolyn Akins of Thomaston, Audrey Wisham of Thomaston, three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Upson Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends on Friday, April 1, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Coggins Funeral Home.
