Mr. James Taylor Mathews, age 88, of Thomaston, died Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Harborview Nursing Home.

Mr. Mathews was born on October 27, 1933, in Upson County, to the late Will Mathews and the late Mary Louise Hayes Coleman.  He retired from B.F Goodrich as a quill stripper and was of the Baptist Faith.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Billy Mathews, and sister, Mary Jameson.

Survivors include his daughters, Jane (Terri) Mathews of Thomaston, Kay (Keith) Standard of Thomaston, several nieces and nephews, and Savannah the Cat.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. from Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Friday, July 22, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Coggins Funeral Home.
