Mr. James Spires age 88, of Thomaston, died Tuesday September 27, 2022 at his daughter's residence.

Mr. Spires was born on November 24, 1933 in Telfair County Ga, to the late Otis Spires and the late Bertha Mae Spires. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and stayed in the Army Reserves until 1962. Mr. Spires owned and operated Spires Clothing Store for 62 years. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Virginia Irene Spires, brothers Westin Spires, Alton Spires, sister Francis Spires, sister in law Doris Spires and son in law David Walton.

Survivors include his daughter Kim Walton & fiance Mark Paulk of Thomaston Ga, grandson Matt Walton of Tampa FL, sister in law Diane Spires, nieces Peggy (Joe) Myers, Debbie Glover and many wonderful nieces and nephews also survive.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday October 1, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral Home on Saturday October 1, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
