John Raymond Karafa, born April 29, 1960 in Rahway, New Jersey, has entered into eternal rest on September 29, 2021 in Charleston, SC. John was 61 years old.

He is survived by: his mother, Margaret M. Karafa, his wife (of 36 years) Deborah R. Karafa, his daughter, Sarah E. Karafa, his two grandchildren, Hannah and John Sullivan Karafa, as well as his three brothers, Mark Karafa, Mike Karafa, Robert Karafa, his nephew, Gabriel Karafa, and his two neices, Luciana Karafa and Charlotte Karafa, as well as his many godchildren, previously named and including Caley Anderson Pitts, Jack Waslaske, the Kellet family children, and many friends and loved ones.

Funeral arrangements by Coggins Funeral Home with a Requiem Mass at St. Peter the Rock Catholic Church on Monday the 4th of October, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. and his final resting place at Crystal Hill Cemetery along side his father, John B. Karafa, and son, John M Karafa. The family will receive friends at Coggins Funeral home on the 3rd of October, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

John celebrated 37 years of marriage this year. He was an avid cyclist and kayaker. He graduated R E Lee High school in 1978, served in the United States Navy until 1982, served the Department of Defense for 37 years, was a member of The Knights of Columbus, parishioner at the Cathedral of St John the Baptist, and devout life-long Catholic. John passed away comfortably into our Lords arms, on the High Holy Day of the Feast of Michaelmas, during the holiest hour of three in the afternoon, in perfect accordance of his faith. Final Rites were performed by Monsignor Brovey.
