Josif Cukalevski, age 90, of Barnesville, passed peacefully at his home on Monday, December 18, 2023. 'American Joe' as he was known to his friends and acquaintances was born in Bitola, Macedonia on August 1, 1933. He emigrated to the United States in the 1960's and became an American citizen on November 21, 1972. Joe was very proud of his citizenship and never took his freedom for granted.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife Trudy, his parents Mihailo and Tasa Cukalevski, his brother and sister- in-law Aleksandar (Dobrila) Cukalevski, sister and brother in law Christina (Ico) Cacovski, nephew Stefan Cukalevski, and his two beloved sons-in-law, Chad Jeremy Hatchett and Dennis 'Bubba' Watson.

Left to honor and cherish his memory are his daughters Aneta (Nick) Kostov, and Lora Watson. Stepson Kevin Figler.  Grandsons Viktor (Maja) Kostov, and Connor Josif Hatchett. Granddaughter Tamara Kostova.

Several nieces and nephews and great grandchildren also survive.

The family would like to thank Brightmoor Hospice for the loving care shown Josif, and another thank you to his special caregivers Linda, Regina and Barbara.

It was Mr. Cukalevski's wishes to be cremated. No services are planned.
