Mrs. Joy Ann Speller Elrod, aged 91, of Macon, Georgia, passed away on December 5, 2024. Born in Union Springs, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Allen Speller and Louise Johnson Bourque. Joy was a dedicated educator, having retired from the Bibb County school system. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph Stanley Elrod, and her sister, Bernice Bussey.

Joy leaves behind a loving family, including her son, Ralph Elrod, Jr., her daughters, Judy Elrod and Debroah Herndon, her brother, Allen (Grace) Speller, significant other James King as well as six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren who will cherish her memory. In lieu of flowers the family would like for donations to be made to one of the followings charities, Alzheimer's Association | Donate to Fight Alzheimer's Disease, Donate Today | The American Cancer Society, Donate Now to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta - Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.

The family will hold a time of visitation on Sunday December 8, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. at Coggins Funeral Home, followed by a graveside service at South View Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Pastor Carol Mora will officiate.
