Mrs. Kathleen "Kat" Haygood Blackmon, age 89, 0f Thomaston, died Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin GA.

Mrs. Blackmon was born September 30, 1935, in Upson County to the late Thomas Haygood and Eva Carter Chambley. She was a Seamstress for Sheri-Lynn, worked for Thomaston Mills, and Canady Pools and Signs.She was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Felton Blackmon; daughters, Debbie Strickland, Connie Blackmon, Peggy Canady, and Betty Jo Thomas; and brother, Ernest Haygood. Survivors are her grandchildren, Kathy Griffin, Kasey Casto, Gary Thomas, Kimberly Thomas, Eric Thomas, Chasity Davidson, Wendy Carella, Kelly Ussery, and Tracy McKee; 9 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services for Mrs. Blackmon will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Crystal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, from 1:00 - 3:00 pm at Coggins Funeral Home.
