Mrs. Martha Kay Murphy age 76 of The Rock Ga, died Tuesday November 28, 2023, at her residence.

Mrs. Murphy was born on October 27, 1947, in Thomaston, Georgia, to the late Jack Corry Scarborough, and the late Martha Walker.  She graduated from Yatesville Highschool in 1965, she graduated from Tift College in 1968 with her Bachelors Degree, and went to GA State University where she received her Masters Degree.  She retired from Upson Lee South as a teacher after 30 plus years and was a member of Silvertown Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Davis Larry Murphy.

Survivors include her daughter, Holly (Greg) Smith of The Rock, sons, Brian (Jodie) Murphy of The Rock, Kevin Murphy of Towson, Maryland, brother, Glenn (Nancy) Scarborough of Hamilton, sister, Faye (Ben) Brown of Thomaston, grandchildren, Madison (Chase) Chapman, Thomas Joel "TJ" (Sigrid) McCray, Rachel (Jacob) Fryer, great-grandchildren, Maddie and Macie Fryer, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at The Rock Methodist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 3, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Coggins Funeral Home.
