Obituary

Ms. Linda G. Riggins, age 76, of Molena, passed away peacefully at Upson Regional Hospital on Sept 5 2025 following a courageous health battle.

Linda was born May 14 1949 in Marshall County AL to the late Rayburn and Alva Mayes Gardner.  She was formerly employed with Georgia Dept of Family and Children's Services of Thomaston for over 30 years.  Linda was an avid deer hunter, loved the outdoors and loved her fur babies. Linda was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church of Thomaston where she and her sister attended together regularly.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, William Edward Gardner, Larry Norman Gardner, and David Earl Gardner Sr., brother-in-law Sylvester 'Tony" Gibson,  sister in law Melba Wade Gardner, and infant niece Cornelia Lois Gardner, and her special aunt Rena Alice Sampson.

Survivors include her sister and best friend Mary Gardner Gibson of Molena Ga, sister in laws Judy  Gardner of Crossville, AL and Brenda Gardner of Molena,  Ga, nieces, Lynn Gibson Alfrey of Beckley, WV and Tina Gardner Stuckey of Muscle Shoals, AL, nephew David Earl Gardner,  Jr of Columbus, Ga, eight great nephews,  two great nieces, eight great-great nephews and seven great-great nieces along with a host of extended family and friends.  A very special thank you to her "adopted" nephew and niece Roger and Audra Cook of Molena Ga, her friend Bonelle Fowler of Thomaston Ga, Dr. Ryan Christopher and Bruce Power both from Mountain View Baptist Church, the ladies of Mountain View Meal Train for all the prepared and cooked dinners and a sincere thank you to Brenda Jones of Molena Ga who was not only a great friend but caregiver to her fur baby during such a difficult time.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home with Dr. Ryan Christopher officiating. Burial will follow at Molena City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Coggins Funeral Home.
