Mrs. Mary Juanita Ralston Greathouse, age 92, of Thomaston, died Sunday, February 11, 2024, at her residence.

Mary Juanita Ralston Greathouse was born on September 20, 1931, to Rev. E.H. Ralston and Bertha Burtz Ralston.  She grew up singing and playing piano in the churches her father pastored.  Mrs. Greathouse worked in bookkeeping at Seaboard Finance Company, Neal Logue Department Store, and Don Page's Law Firm before becoming the owner and publisher of The Upson Home Journal newspaper.  In her younger years, she was an active member of the community participating in Leadership Upson, Kiwanis, Jaycees, and past chairman of the local Democratic Party.  She was a member of the Georgia Sheriff's Association Ladies Auxiliary and served as secretary-treasurer, vice president, and president during her tenure. In her later years, Mrs. Greathouse enjoyed antiquing, sewing, crocheting, playing the piano, and gardening.

Mrs. Greathouse is preceded in death by her husband, the late Sheriff Merrill Greathouse; a brother, Eugene Ralston; and a brother-in-law, Robert "Bob" Alfonso.

Survivors include two sons, Dan (Diane) Greathouse and Don (Julie) Greathouse, of Thomaston; a daughter, Cheryl (Nancy) Greathouse of Thomaston; two brothers, Rudolph (Ann) Ralston and Wilburn (Shirley) Ralston; two sisters, Martha Alfonso and Elizabeth (Richard) Beohm;  sister-in-law, Jean Ralston; grandchildren Jennifer (Michael) Rogers, Rachael (Jeff) Truitt, Murphy (Emily) Greathouse, Ashli (Matt) Farrar, Blake (LeAnn) Odom, Brittany (Ed) Garcia, Nikki Martin, and Bobby (Kayla) Botts;  14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Crystal Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday February 14, 2024, from 1:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m. at Coggins Funeral Home.
