Obituary

Ruth Adel Chancellor was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She left this world at the age 81 in Griffin, GA on Thursday, November 30, 2023, surrounded by loved ones in her home.

She was born to Charles and Ruth Stearns on November 18, 1942, in Albuquerque, NM.  In her Brewster Vocational High School yearbook, she stated her main goal in life was to raise a family. After marrying her beloved high school sweetheart Brian Thornton Chancellor, her nurturing caregiver ambitions were consistent throughout her life. First by helping to raise her five siblings after her fathers early death. Then by starting her own family and raising three children, another "mother" to seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. "GAGA", as everyone called her, was the most popular grandmother at the church she worked for many years. Gaga passed along her love of crafting, baking, camping, and reading to her children and grandchildren. One of her biggest loves was the beach and spending time with her family scavenging for seashells, playing pro kadima in the sand, and soaking in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. On pretty days she could be found reading outside enjoying nature. Most vacations for Gaga involved exploring with children at beaches, teaching them all about shells and often fossil hunting. While raising her family, Gaga spent her life working for the Lutheran Church in several capacities. First, helping to bring many Vietnamese families to the US by coordinating host families to help the refugees build new lives and careers. Later, she worked for the Christian school at Christ Our Redeemer Church.

Gaga is survived by her husband of 62 years, Brian Thornton Chancellor; her children David (Ashley) Chancellor, Deborah (Michael Morsberger) Ericsson, Diane (Chad) Nuce; her grandchildren Shelby Ericsson, Stef Ericsson, Tori Chancellor, Alex Chancellor, Riley Nuce (deceased), Colby Nuce, and Ella Chancellor; her great-grandchildren Regan Ericsson and Ivan Ericsson; sisters Marlene Stewart, Kathleen Fews, and Irene McCleod; and Charles (deceased) (Diane) Chancellor.
