Walter Lamar Smith, age 85, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021. He was born December 7, 1936 in Thomaston, Georgia, the son of the late Mr. Joe Jarrell Smith and the late Mrs. Mattie Cleo Smith. Mr. Smith served in the United States Airforce. He was a mason at Latham Masonic Lodge for over 50 years. Mr. Smith loved playing golf and enjoyed woodworking. He also enjoyed Saturday morning breakfast with his Sunday school class. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wives', Betty Smith and Brenda Priest Smith; brothers, Henry Otis Smith, Tommy Joe Smith, Marvin Pierce Smith; and his sister, Fannie Smith Faulkner.

Mr. Smith is survived by his nieces and nephews Clara Jean (G.B) Baugh, Risa Maier, Randall (Marsha) Smith, Patsy Marsh, Ann (Danny) Evans, Jimmy (Martha) Faulkner, JoAnn Axline, and Janet Snyder; and friend, Deborah and Stephen Hitchcock; children, Heather and Matt Martin, James and Emily Hitchcock; grandchildren, Grace, Maya, Oliver Jones and Evelyn Hitchcock.

A memorial service will be conducted from Liberty Baptist Church, Douglasville, Georgia on January 8, 2021 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Terry Marbut officiating.
