Mr. Wayne Kirby Sandefur, age 75 of Thomaston, died Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Upson Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Sandefur was born July 31, 1950, in Pike County, Georgia to the late Joseph Kirby Sandefur, and the late Vera Spires Sandefur.

With the support of his adored wife Margaret Jones Sandefur who he was preceded in death by, he became the first in his family to graduate from college with a BBA from Georgia State University. He worked in various financial leadership roles in his career including being the Controller for Yamaha Music Manufacturing,  Director of Administrative Services for Flint River Technical College, and Chief Finance Officer for Upson County's government.  He was both a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).  He was a long time former member of the Sertoma Club here in the Thomaston community, and in latter years a devoted member of Church of God, a Worldwide Association.

Survivors include his son, Mark J. Sandefur of Dunwoody, Georgia, and adored grandchildren, Kirby Sandefur and Rhianna Sandefur.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Upson Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 1:00 p.m-2:00 p.m. at Coggins Funeral Home.
