Zakiya Imara
Davenport
Jul 31, 2001 — Sep 1, 2026
Thomaston, Georgia
Zakiya Imara Davenport passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Emory Midtown in Atlanta on September 1, 2026. The family was awakened by the rustling of the Angels minutes prior to her passing.
Zakiya was born in Thomaston, Georgia on July 31, 2001 to Regina Weathers and Craig Davenport. She was a 2019 graduate of Upson-Lee High School, where she earned Star Student and Knight of Distinction honors. She graduated from Gordon State College in 2023 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and an Associate’s Degree in Chemistry.
Zakiya was a blessing to each and every life she touched. She was a leader with a light that burned like an unshakable flame no matter what she endured in life, she never let that light go out. She gave of herself freely to people and animals through acts of kindness that came naturally to her. She especially loved her rescue cats and proudly told everyone they were her babies.Ambitious, creative, humorous, intelligent, and beautiful are only a few words that describe Zakiya. She was an incredibly brave and strong spiritual warrior throughout her battle with brain cancer. One can only imagine how beautiful her reunion must have been with her mom and dad. She is preceded in death by her parents, Craig Robert Davenport, and Regina Weathers, and her maternal grandfather, George H. Weathers Jr.
Survivors include her brother, Jabari Hasani Davenport, maternal grandmother, Celestine W. Weathers, paternal grandparents, Larry and Lola Ann Dawson, her cousin/sister, Amesha Perry, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Coggins Funeral Home. The family will visit with friends on Saturday September 12, 2026 from 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. at Coggins Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Upson County Humane Society. Zakiya loved and treasured her rescue cats.
